Copyright Resources Compilation
Fan Art
When we talk about Fan Art, the question of copyright tends to come up. There have been a lot of resources posted on the subject on DA over the years and sometimes they can be tricky to find. So this is a comprehensive compilation on the topic posted by staff, who have had legal consultation. I have left out older articles that are similar to the ones I included as the more recent ones would have the most accurate information.

AVATARS
Avatars, whether for a Personal Site or a Group, can say a lot about the Deviant or Group by how the Avatar appears on the profile page. All Deviants and Groups can have an Avatar, as long as the Avatars are within certain parameters. Many Deviants keep the same avatar for years, often becoming known by their Avatar. Others will change their Avatars as the seasons change, or to match an upcoming holiday. Some Deviants have their names on their Avatars, some have flashy Animated Avatars and some have classic, simple Avatars. Since Avatars can be easily changed, there are Deviants who change their's as their mood

How to Animate in Gimp
Gimp is a free photo editing software that you can download at gimp.org. You can use it for a lot of different things like photo manipulations, drawing, pixel art, etc. Today though, we will be covering the topic of animation!:la:
Note that this tutorial will only show the basics of Gimp animation. How to make the frames, how to save it and the such. So let's get started!:la:
Start by making the subject. I just used a random black ball, but the subject can be as simple or as complex as you want, depending on what you're making. Make sure you switch over to the layers tab.
Tip: If you do not already have the layer
PE DD Week: Why did an icon get a DD? by Hardrockangel, journal
PE DD Week: Why did an icon get a DD?
Why did an icon get a DD?
Daily deviations tend to be a controversial topic within the community and whether or not a DD is worthy of the feature is, as such, often discussed.
As a CV for Icons & Handhelds I often find it interesting to read these discussions, since that way I can see what the community expects of the features, but the recent negativity on the Icons & Handhelds DDs is something I would like to address, which is why I'm thankful I'm given this opportunity during the Daily Deviation PE-week. I will try to explain why I think icons and handhelds are worthy of the feature and why they may be dismissed just a bit too quic
On the importance of submitting icons correctly. by Hardrockangel, journal
On the importance of submitting icons correctly.
Why this journal?
The reason I'm writing this journal is because miscatting has become quite a popular practice on dA and as such it needs to be addressed from time to time. Before a new Icon-CV had been appointed (say hi to ValaSedai (https://www.deviantart.com/valasedai) as the new Icon-CV!), I had discussed with ClefairyKid (https://www.deviantart.com/clefairykid) about writing up a small journal (though likely text-wall) about the importance of correctly submitting icons and pixel art.
While some deviants may be doing it on purpose, due to the recent changes in the Fair Exposure-algorythm, a lot of you don't, which is why I hope this journal helps clear up some misunderstandings about both galleries. Most
